strawberry cheesecake

mmmmmm strawberry cheesecake from Zupas. We went there for lunch and the girls begged for a piece of their strawberry cheesecake and since I am the coolest mom ever, I obliged. As we indulged in that delictible confection of goodness Kirsten said: "Man, I think God or Jesus put something in there to make it taste so good!" I couldn't agree more. I also think they are somehow involved in the production of Coke products, cheese, girl scout cookies and movie popcorn with lots of butter!!

Mystery Dad's

In the spirit of Father's Day the primary did a fun activity called "Mystery Dad's". 3 dads came to primary with bags on their heads all wrapped up in sheets. The kids did a scripture activity and then got to ask yes/no questions to the dad's.
Jim was chosen as one of the contestants and it was a riot. For some reason they figured him out first, probably due to the question : "Do you have three daughters named Anna, Kirsten and Lilly?" Jim answered with "technically no" thinking Lilly's real name is Lillian and trying to keep some element of mystery in the game.
Kirsten kept running back and forth to me asking if it was dad. I told her I wasn't sure and that she would have to ask more questions. She raised her hand each round in hopes to ask that one question that would settle the matter. Towards the end she was finally picked and with a huge grin on her face she asked the question of all questions: "Do you got two women's?" It was silent at first and then you could hear the laughter build in the room as people began to get the question and the answer: "technically yes."
I was dying-TWO WOMEN"S?!!! how hilarious is that? I love the way that kid thinks and that to her the mystery was solved-it was indeed her dad! :)
Happy Father's Day Jim. Thanks for being such an incredible father and for doing such a wonderful job of taking care of our girls. Your patience continues to amaze me - you are perfect for a family of all girls! You are the best!

Yup it' still there: the two headed lamb at the Daughter of the Utah Pioneers Museum. Today we went to the museum and saw a lot of great stuff, non of which could out do Mary's Little Lambs-still a freak fest after all these years. As a kid I remember it being a monster, a huge flesh eating blood sucking beast. I was REALLY looking forward to freaking the girls out and when we got there my excitement and anticipation quickly waned. It's so cute you almost want to pet it. The girls thought so too.
As much cool stuff as there was to see, Anna was more taken with the Mood Rings at the gift shop and Kirsten couldn't stop eyeing the Laffy Taffy. Oh well at least I got them with the Horehound "candy"-ewwwwww! :)

Confession of a MEAN mom

I'm thinking about changing my Blog name from u-hall to Meam Mom. Today I was dubbed a "Mean Mom" by my children because I made them go outside and play with their friends. How mean is that? I am awful- Attila the Hun doesn't hold a candle to me! Mussolini- nothin'. Miss Hannigan was a wimp. I am the meanest most awful terrible rotten no good mom in the world...and I love it! Wait until I FORCE them to do a craft tomorrow!!! ARRRRRRGH

Summer cleaning Boot Camp

Today was hard core! I taught the girls how to clean. . . I mean really clean. We went through each room where I instructed them on how exactly to clean the room to my satisfaction. Jim helped the girls burn a CD of their favorite songs and we cleaned to the music. When TNT by ACDC came on I saw Kirsten singing along and I asked "hey Kirst should I turn it up" and without any hesitation she called back with a resounding "YES!"
They did a great job and it only took about an hour. They followed my instructions, didn't complain once and Anna begged to do the toilets. Could someone pinch me please?

friends came over.
capture the flag was played.
water found it's way out if the hose
popsicles were eaten
Lilly napped (until woken by screaming kids)
piano was practiced

Yes summer is here and I have the bull by it's horns!

Of course I later found out that when Jim came home they were quick to tell him that "mom locked us out of the house and wouldn't give us any food today!" to which I replied with "whatever it takes!"

First Day of Summer

What a dreary day for the first day of summer. We stayed inside and made Shrinky Dinks-remember those? They are still around and I still love them. Rumor has it my great uncle invented them (then again we Uzelac's claim fame for many a thing- My sister Rebecca truly thought she wrote the song: We built this city on Rock and Roll- incidentally it was voted Worst Song Ever by Rolling Stone and I do recall thinking I had come up with the game Go Fish as well as the correct placement of socks on the feet hmmm and to think I am raising kids.)

But I will say so far so good.

of course it is just day one.

and only 1:30 p.m.

and none of their friends can play.

and Jim doesn't get home for 4 more hours.

Oh CANADA!

5 fun filled days in Canada with Laurel- who could ask for anything more? I absolutely loved it and I absolutely love her. Read her BLOG (Sitting at the Feet of the Queen) for the best story ever on our flight there. Later I will tell of my adventures- but her blog is SOOO worth the read!
