famous people weekend

We have had quite a weekend! It began with Super Literacy Friday an event the school has each year where they invite an author to come and visit the school, speak to the kids and sign books. The girls were so excited to have their own book signed (thanks to grandma ann) by Anne Bowen author of I loved you before you were born.

On Saturday night we all went to hear Cheri Call perform. Anna and her BFF Bayley are HUGE fans! They sat on the front row and were mesmermized. After the concert Kirsten came running back and asked for a pen and paper to write down the name of her favorite song: "No" (It is playing right now, just sit back and listen to it- I love that of all the songs she heard that night, this is the one she loved most.

(oh and tonight after Anna finished saying the prayer Kirst shouted out "and PS God, let the second coming come soon!)

crass but funny

So yesterday Kirsten and I were sitting at the computer playing on webkinz together. She was about to leave and I said "hey stay and play webkinz with me, I need your help." At that moment she totally passes gas and then says "there's your help!" and then simply walks off.
A little bit crass but come on, if you know Kirsten it's dang funny!!!!!

she did it!

Well she did it! Anna cut her hair and is donating it to Locks of Love. She was so excited to FINALLY have enough hair to donate and I am so proud of her!!

My favorite part was after it was done and styled she looked in the mirror and said "Oh I look cute with short hair. I think I will keep it short for the rest of my life." And you know what, she does look good, real good! How wonderful is that? She didn't cry or lament over her lost long locks.
And how about Kirsten's flowing curls?!

Here she is checking them out. . . And true to Kirsten form-"smile for the camera!!!"
What a couple of Beauties! I wish I could take the credit but alas, they get it from their mother. . who I am sure is also so proud!

new favorite site

Forget about going to the homeless shelter to volunteer or even thinking about visiting a nursing home and making cards for the old folks. I'm sooo done with all of that!
From now on all I have to do it visit Freerice.com , guess the definition of a few words and my humanitarian efforts have been met. In one single attempt I managed to give 40 grains of rice to some starving child in Africa or Bangladesh or where ever it goes. I'm just glad that my extensive erudite lexis can be of such superior service to the dispossessed and subjugated humankind. I challenge you to log on now and do your part! (Oh and using a thesaurus is totally cheating!)

bad smell

We had just finished a lovely meal at Olive Garden (which by the way is considered the Denny's of Italian Restaurants in St. Louis) and Lilly started acting up so I took the girls, left Jim with the bill and we went to get the car.

We got outside and made our way through the crowd of people waiting to get in and eat when we were met with an awfully rank smell that smelled of something burning and Kirsten blurts out "WHEW MAN! DID SOMEBODY BURN A DOG?" I was laughing so hard I couldn't shush her. Classic

april's fool

April Fools just came and went this year and regretfully I do not have anything to tell. Sadly enough this year pales in comparison to the many other years: '89 when a late night call convinced my father that I was in Jail, '92 when the bank manager in Idaho called to tell my dad I had written over $2,000 in bad checks, '96 when I secretly sent my sister flowers from a guy that used to stalk her, '02 telling my parents I had a boyfriend (clearly the joke was on me!) '03 telling the folks I was pregnant (again, joke on me).
This year the best I could do was fake out Jim and the girls by telling them that grandma Ann called and is unexpectedly coming for the weekend with something she needs to talk to us about. Admittedly not my best but the girls did a pretty good job.
Kirsten came in from school acting really sad and said "Today I got a think time (timeout for troublemakers) at school. You have to call the principal for a meeting with her." hahaha
Anna had an idea for next year "I know! Next year I'm gonna have Tyler come and arrest me and put me in handcuffs at school and pretend he is taking me away to JUVI!"
Now that was funny-Juvi? How she ever learned what Juvi is, is beyond me.
But maybe the best April Fools Joke yet was from God that morning: Me holding a baby while my husband videotaped my 12 year old's school report on Maine with my 10 year old running back and forth asking if her sister needed any help and being 3 days late on my period. :)
